50 Years Strong – Capeview and MiTek Building Success

Capeview Building Products, part of the Coldon Homes group, has been a cornerstone of truss and wall framing fabrication for over 50 years. With operations spanning joinery, aluminium windows and large-scale frame and truss production, Capeview has built its reputation on quality, reliability and a commitment to continuous improvement.

General Manager Peter Sheerin currently oversees the company’s long-standing partnership with MiTek, a collaboration that has supported Capeview through industry growth, market shifts and significant technology evolution.

A partnership built on trust

Peter explains that MiTek has been a core part of Capeview’s journey for decades:

“We’ve been fabricators for 50 years and the partnership with MiTek has been a key part of that journey. It’s about building relationships that last. We don’t change partners without reason and MiTek has consistently provided the support we need, even in tough times like material shortages during COVID.”

Capeview works with MiTek across three key areas: software, automation solutions and the MiTek Services team. MiTek’s software ensures accuracy and efficiency in design and estimating, whilst automation solutions improve production speed and consistency.

The MiTek Services team acts as a seamless extension of Capeview’s operations, supporting estimating, training and day-to-day workflows. Peter explains how this integration strengthens the partnership:

“The Services team is really part of our team. They provide estimating support, help train staff and work closely with our detailers and designers. We have regular check-ins and meetings, which means their expertise is always available when we need it. It’s not just technology, it’s the people behind it that make the difference.”

Software driving efficiency

MiTek’s software ecosystem has played a significant role in Capeview’s ability to maintain accuracy, speed and consistency in design and estimating. Peter points to the reliability of the system and the improvements delivered over time:

“The software continues to evolve and the improvements are always aligned with what we need on the ground. It supports our designers, speeds up estimating and helps us deliver a better outcome for our builders.”

The integration between design tools, engineering checks, automation and the Services team helps Capeview streamline operations whilst reducing manual errors and rework.

“MiTek understands the urgency of what we do. If we need help, they are there. Whether it is software support, guidance from the Services team or assistance with our automation, they respond quickly and genuinely care about keeping our production moving.”
